George III Silver Sauce Boat (circa 1763) A stunning "George III Silver Sauce Boat" hand made by David Whyte & William Holmes, London, 1763. Fully hallmarked of helmet-form with a tapering fluted body, gadrooned rim (small splits in two places), acanthus capped handle, raised on a gadrooned petestal foot. There is a wonderful hand-engraved nautical armorial crest on the front and the monogram of HJ below the handle base. The length 8" and the weight is 13.9 troy ozs.
